The newly opened and first Head Start childcare facility in Palmer. The 9,165sf building provides 7 classroom spaces along with a multi-purpose room, full commercial kitchen, and administrative offices.

Wolf Architecture teamed with F-E Contracting to complete the design-build project with record speed. The wood framed building sports a colorful and engaging EIFS facade that is not only highly durable but provides an additional layer of insulation. The building is designed to meet all Federal Head Start Facility Design Guidelines. The south facing playground is enclosed by a beautiful natural wood fence and includes a small sledding hill and incredible mountain views.

Carefully located on the edge of an existing neighborhood and across the street from a school, the facility is in a prime spot to serve the community by car and on foot. A large scale parking lot allowing for parking for large meetings held in the multi-purpose room and a separate bud drop off loop were both part of the project. A full commercial kitchen allows for nutritious meals to be provided on-site.

The facility provides Energy Efficiency measures saving 37% and $9,818 annually. Measures included additional insulation, improved glazing units, high efficiency boiler and radiant floor distribution, ventilation controls, and LED lighting.
